Terms and Conditions

Performance Regulations

-The competition is open for acoustic musical performances;  vocal and instrument performance and dance will be accepted.

- No bands will be accepted.

- Performance material can be original or covers of songs or a combination of both

- There is no age limit.

- No swearing or sexual content allowed (including but not limited to lyrics and actions).

- You may enter no more than two acts, one may be a solo act

- There is no fee to register a performance


- All accompanying backing tracks and instruments including musicians must be supplied by the contestant.

Otherwise your act might be disqualified.

- You must be available to perform at the Te Whiti Riser Friday 27 & 28th September

-You must be available to perform 2 hours between 5.30pm – 9.30pm to qualify.

- The Judges' decision is final and irrefutable.

How To Enter

- Upload footage of the song being performed to YouTube (or a photo slideshow if preferred) - maximum duration 10 minutes.

- Complete an online entry form on the Atiawa Toa FM Facebook page, and provide YouTube URL of footage, brief info/explanation of the song, written lyrics.


- Name/s of all contributors and participants must be noted in the entry form (eg: Lyricist/s, Composer/s of music, Performer/s, the person/s who filmed and edited the footage etc).




-The participant/Parent/Caregiver are giving consent to us to release images and recordings to media and sponsors, to send promotional material from the event organisers and sponsors and agreeing to all conditions of entry.

- The participant agrees to follow Instructions in regards to health and safety and emergency procedures as given on the day by the Ara Mai, Waiata Mai talent quest organisers.

- Due to the nature of this event, there is only one email address ( available to communicate with. Please do not call Hutt City Council or Atiawa Toa FM in regards to ' Ara Mai! Star Quest Talent Quest'.

Winner of the Ara Mai Star Quest Talent Quest will receive a paid performance at Ara Mai! (27th-28th September) and a paid performance at Highlight Festival  (25-28 October 2019).

- Registrations close on Wednesday 18th September 2019.

- Finalists will be announced on the evening of Thursday 19th August on live on Atiawa Toa FM. Winner will be contacted directly.
